Topshop Australia launches buy-now, pay-later option

Topshop’s Australian licensee has partnered with payments startup Afterpay to launch a buy-now, pay-later payment service in nine stores across the country.

The partnership expands Topshop Topman’s current online payment options, which offer a ‘buy now, pay 3 months later’ service with Swedish payment provider Klarna. According to media reports, this type of payment is highly popular in Australia, with savvy internet consumers increasingly using the platform to try on the goods before paying in full.

Consumers shopping in Australian Topshop and Topman stores can now access to the service through their smartphone. The service gives shoppers the option of spreading the cost with four fee-free instalments.

Topshop launched in Australia in 2011 with a first store in Melbourne. The UK fashion label is operated in the country by Next Athleisure.
