Skincare brand Pestle & Mortar doubles revenues on UK and global growth

Irish skincare specialist Pestle & Mortar has won contracts with M&S in the UK and Harvey Nichols in Hong Kong and is set to double its revenues this year as a result.

And the company is also ramping up its international expansion with debuts in Australia, Russia and the United Arab Emirates coming soon.

The Irish Times reported that the company has ambitious plans for a Chinese website too, based on really fast growth for the beauty sector in that market and also the company’s existing links with China as all of its packaging is sourced there.

Co-founder Sonia Deasy told the newspaper that the company reached €3 million in revenue last year and expects €6 million this year as its contracts with big names and its global growth plans kick in.

She said the brand will be available in 45 M&S stores in Britain and the Republic of Ireland by the summer with a focus on the top performing locations. M&S became interested in the band following its appearance on TV shopping channel QVC.

The company recently moved into a new and larger head office in his hometown Naas, which it said is important as a showcase for the brand when dealing with distributors from abroad.

Deasy was speaking on the sidelines of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards CEO retreat in Hong Kong, having been chosen as a finalist in the emerging category of the annual awards. She also said that the label’s appearance in Harvey Nichols in Hong Kong should give it greater exposure to Chinese consumers and will add to the brand's appeal given the importance of Harvey Nichols for high-end shoppers.
