Puma names Richard Teyssier general manager Europe
French executive Richard Teyssier is facing a fresh challenge. Teyssier, who has worked at Puma since 2010, and has been in charge of the German sport brand’s French subsidiary since 2012, is set to move to Puma’s headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany, to become general manager Europe.
Teyssier has played a major role in rejuvenating Puma on the French market ever since Björn Gulden was appointed group CEO of Puma in 2013. France is now one of the leading markets for the German group, whose revenue is expected to top the €6 billion mark worldwide this year.
Teyssier will take on his new responsibilities on September 1, replacing Arne Freundt, who was recently promoted to the post of chief commercial officer. Teyssier will not be the only Frenchman working at Puma’s Bavarian headquarters. He will join Anne-Laure Descours, who has been vice president in charge of sourcing for the group since 2019, Romain Girard, currently head of innovation and design, and Benoît Menard, the former marketing director France, who was appointed regional marketing manager Europe this summer.
As the new general manager Europe, Teyssier will oversee the group's activities in Central Europe, France, the UK and Ireland, Southern Europe and Scandinavia, as well as Puma’s retail performance across the continent. He will report to Arne Freundt.
Almost symbolically, Teyssier recently inaugurated the new headquarters of Puma France in Strasbourg, ushering in a new era for the group. Christophe Cance, who has worked at Puma since 2008 after stints with Adidas and New Balance, and who since 2019 was commercial director France, will take charge of Puma’s French subsidiary after Teyssier.
