Première Vision suspends PV Istanbul trade show

French fashion trade show organiser Première Vision is putting a stop, temporarily it said, to the PV Istanbul show, five years after it was launched. This will enable Première Vision to focus on its US and French events, whose numbers have recently increased.

The last edition of PV Istanbul attracted 5,000 visitors and about 100 exhibitors from March 20 to 22 2019 - Première Vision

Première Vision’s Istanbul show was first staged in November 2014, in the wake of the discontinuation of Première Vision Moscow, part of whose Russian visitorship it was planning to tap.

Messe Frankfurt, a direct competitor of Première Vision, deployed its Texworld and Apparel Sourcing events in Istanbul in the same year as the French organiser, but two years later it decided to suspend them, notably due to the political unrest Turkey was experiencing.

While a Turkey-based show is attractive to local manufacturers and buyers, the country is nevertheless well represented at Première Vision Paris. Turkey ranks in fact fourth in terms of visitor numbers at the Parisian event, after Italy, France and China, while 200 Turkish exhibitors will take part in the next PV Paris, scheduled on September 17-19 at the Villepinte exhibition centre.

The shelving of the Istanbul event goes hand in hand with the growth in Paris-based shows for Première Vision. PV Paris has gradually incorporated all its neighbouring fashion shows, like Zoom by Fatex, Cuir à Paris, and Modamont, among others, now all under the Première Vision banner. In the last decade, Première Vision discontinued other shows outside France (in Sao Paulo, Moscow, Shanghai and Tokyo), but it has also acquired the Made in France shows, and introduced the biannual Blossom event dedicated to pre-collections. Also, the organiser has gradually strengthened PV New York, while the inaugural edition of Première Vision Sport was held in Portland, Oregon, on August 14-15.
