PVH enhances transparency with latest corporate responsibility report

PVH Corporation, the New York-based owner of brands including Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, released its latest annual corporate responsibility report on Wednesday, emphasizing transparency and data disclosure, and detailing the company’s progress with its sustainability and diversity objectives.

The twelfth corporate responsibility report to be published by PVH and the first since it launched its “Forward Fashion” CR strategy last year, the latest report increases the group’s data disclosure and transparency concerning workforce inclusivity and diversity in terms of gender and ethnicity.

In the current context of global movements against systematic racism, PVH sees this enhanced transparency as an “an important first step in meaningful progress to ensure all people and communities are represented, and in creating a workplace environment where every individual is valued and every voice is heard.”

In line with the objectives of Forward Fashion, the company announced that it has achieved gender parity in leadership positions at and above the VP level. In the future, the group is aiming to achieve gender parity at the most senior levels of SVP and above.

“Within this report we have been transparent about representation and diversity across our company,” said PVH chairman and CEO Manny Chirico in a release. “We have a lot more to do – and we are fully committed to doing the work. Over the next few months we will be publishing a set of targets focused on racial equality, representation and advancement, and we commit to disclosing the actions being taken across our organization to meet these targets.”

As part of its other personnel-focused initiatives, the company has also shared living wage data related to workers in its supplier factories for the first time.

In terms of its environmental goals, PVH revealed that it is already halfway to achieving its target of sourcing 100% of its cotton sustainably by 2025, and has successfully completed waste audits that will inform its efforts towards achieving zero waste at all of its offices, distribution centers and stores by 2030.

Furthermore, the company has received approval from the Science Based Target initiative for its absolute greenhouse gas emission reduction targets, which are based on the most ambitious level of decarbonization set by the Paris Agreement.

“I’m proud of the progress we have made in the last year as we work to achieve our Forward Fashion goals,” concluded Chirico. “Next year, this report will look different again, as we keep making positive impacts and holding ourselves accountable to the highest standards.”
