Munich Fabric Start sees visitor numbers drop

The latest edition of Munich Fabric Start on 29-31 January experienced a decline in footfall for the first time in the show’s history. Visitors numbers fell by 3% compared with January 2018.

The event attracted 3% less visitors than in 2018 - MUNICH FABRIC START

However, organisers highlighted the importance of hosting an operational and perfectly equipped business platform in light of today’s market challenges.

More than 1,000 exhibitors benefitted from three days of networking and trading opportunities, showcasing their collections to buyers and brand representatives.

Despite the challenging market conditions, a total of 19,800 international visitors from German-speaking and European countries attended the Munich-based event. Non-German European visitors accounted for 38% of footfall.

There was an optimistic atmosphere at the trade fair this season, boosted by the message “What is Love” in anticipation for the Summer 2020 season.

“The industry is looking for new ways. Strategic cooperations are decisive tools for strong market positions. Apart from the sourcing of textiles and additionals, modern trade fair business is especially about process engineering and synergies. At the end of the day, it is about finding the right players for digital value chains and establishing new, coordinated collaborations,” said managing director Sebastian Klinder.

The next edition of Munich Fabric Start will take place from 3-5 September 2019, while Bluezone will be held on 3-4 September.
