Makeup manufacturer Amelia Knight Cosmetics acquires rival

Published
Mar 4, 2019

Manchester-based cosmetics company Amelia Knight Cosmetics, which supplies beauty products to retailers including Primark and George at Asda, has acquired rival Pascalle Cosmetics in a move that will significantly expand its manufacturing capabilities.

Amelia Knight Cosmetics currently supplies to a number of leading retailers through manufacturing in a Chinese factory. It also produces cosmetics for its own brands, Colour Couture, Academy of Colour and Hidden Dreams.

The transaction provides the business with a first manufacturing site in Europe, and there are plans to invest in a new R&D lab that will triple the size of its UK R&D team, according to Manchester Evening News.

“We continue to experience high growth and customer success, our products are winning highly acclaimed industry awards and we continue to expand. Pascalle’s factory allows us to add instant capacity to our production capabilities,” founder and chairman of Amelia Knight, David Salmon, said.

Mark Salmon, director of UK manufacturing at Amelia Knight, added: “By ramping up our production capabilities, we can bring our expertise in great design and high technical standards to our combined customer base, ensuring we are faster than ever with the latest fashion trends at competitive prices.

"In diversifying our production base, we also sidestep the threat of future tariffs between the US and China, as well as unlocking the full potential of the Stoke facilities. This deal will allow us to create more manufacturing jobs in the UK.”

Amelia Knight Cosmetics currently supplies beauty products to retailers in Europe, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South America and South Africa, and employs more than 450 employees worldwide, including 400 chemists, product developers and sourcing experts in China.
