Lacoste reopening US network with new health & safety initiatives

Published
May 19, 2020

Lacoste has begun to reopen its US boutique and outlet locations, while introducing a new series of health & safety initiatives for the stores, working with tech company Yoobic.

Lacoste store in Orlando, Florida mall

One of France’s most instantly recognizable brands, Lacoste had already quietly opened eight locations throughout Texas, in the first stage of the rollout reopening back on May 8. The brand followed that up with additional stores in Florida, North Carolina and Ohio on May 15.

“Additional locations will reopen as local mandates allow,” Lacoste said in a release, adding that its new operational guidelines mean, “the health and safety of its customers and employees will be the number one priority for the brand.”

Each boutique and outlet will follow a rigorous cleaning and disinfecting process prior to opening the store and also mid-day of operation. Lacoste have hired third-party professional cleaning services to check and clean HVAC systems; disinfect dressing rooms and payment terminals before and after each customer. Moreover, all Lacoste retail locations will be well-equipped with protective masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, thermometers, soap, and paper towels on hand.

Lacoste is also introducing real-time data around their health & safety initiatives with tech company Yoobic. This allows customers to scan QR codes within the retail stores that provide live updates on how many times and when the retail store was last professionally cleaned and sanitized, as well as the store’s current capacity so it does not exceed its threshold.

Customers can also learn more about the brand, like how the iconic L.12.12 polo is made, by scanning QR codes placed on tape spaced 6 feet apart in front of cash registers.

The Paris-based brand is also introducing a new concept called Street & Collect, which allows curbside pickup at the nearest Lacoste boutiques for orders placed on Lacoste.com. Customers can also scan the QR code placed on the storefront’s window giving them visibility into the retail store’s stock on hand. Once the customer completes their order it is fulfilled by the store associate and will be delivered to the customer outside the store, on the street or to their vehicle.

Finally, VIP customers will be entitled to a new Croco Concierge service, with virtual face-to-face personal shopping through video calls, and the right to book store appointments ahead of time.

Back in April, Lacoste joined the fight against coronavirus by producing 100,000 masks in France in just a few weeks. Two production lines in its historic factory in Troyes were dedicated to produce the protective equipment.Lacoste has since ramped up the output of masks, while its factory in Argentina and its Turkish partner, Eren Holding, have also adapted their facilities to manufacture medical masks and gowns.
