L Catterton's Growth Fund invests in menswear brand Mizzen + Main

L Catterton continues its brand investments with a significant investment in American-made menswear label Mizzen + Main, the fourth brand in two weeks.

The private equity firm formed in partnership between Catterton, LVMH and Groupe Arnault recently invested in skincare brand Tula, men’s activewear label Rhone Apparel and on Tuesday swimwear brand Maaji. Mizzen + Main joins a number of brands that have received investments from the firm, including Sandro & Maje, Sweaty Betty and Hanna Andersson in the past.

Founded by Kevin Lavelle in 2012, Mizzen + Main is a digitally native designer, wholesaler and retailer of American-made, performance-focused apparel. The brand is well known for its products constructed with wrinkle-free, machine washable materials that possess stretch and moisture wicking capabilities. It's also known for athlete-fronted campaigns featuring Chicago Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta, Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt and professional tennis player John Isner.

The investment from L Catterton’s Growth Fund will be used to expand the Dallas-based menswear brand’s product offering and omni-channel presence.

"We're thrilled to receive this growth investment from L Catterton, which is an ideal partner for high-growth apparel brands," said Lavelle. "With L Catterton's deep understanding of consumer trends and the retail space, along with their expertise in helping to grow digitally-native brands, we will increase our product offering, expand our footprint, and continue to identify innovative new fabrics that provide our customers with the most comfortable and natural fit possible."

Mizzen + Main is available online and in close to 300 retail locations global, including Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom.
