Jennifer Lopez to receive CFDA's 2019 Fashion Icon Award

The Council of Fashion Designers of America has announced that Jennifer Lopez will be awarded the Fashion Icon Award at the upcoming 2019 CFDA Fashion Awards.

According to the organization, which announced the 2019 award nominees in March, Lopez earned the award "for her longstanding and global impact on fashion" - noting, in particular, her iconic Versace dress appearance, music video styles, and red carpet looks - as well as for the star's business accomplishments with her own personal brand. Through her fashion, beauty, and fragrance lines, Lopez brand has grossed over $1 billion to date.

As the newest Fashion Icon Award winner, Lopez joins former recipients that include Naomi Campbell, Beyoncé Knowles, Pharrell Williams, Johnny Depp, and Rihanna.

Lopez has been featured on the covers of national and international magazines, including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Marie Claire, Glamour, W, and Vanity Fair.

The 2019 CFDA Fashion Awards will be held on June 3 at the Brooklyn Museum. The latest awards news comes as the CFDA prepares for Tom Ford to take the helm as the organization's new chairman in 2020.
