Intersport puts Katja Erbe in charge of The Athlete's Foot in Europe
The Athlete’s Foot has grown extensively in Europe in the last two years, and has now appointed a director in charge of continental operations. In 2018, Katja Erbe will take up the newly created post of General Manager Europe for the US sneaker retailer, bought by the Intersport group in 2012.
Erbe built her career at Adidas, lately as Sales Director for central and eastern Europe. Her mission at The Athlete’s Foot will be to work closely with the national master franchisors in order to expand the retailer’s store network, and also to interact with the various brands that are part of the retailer's range, in a context of sustained growth.
Since 2015, The Athlete's Foot's retail footprint in Europe broadened from 18 to 105 stores, entering six new countries, including France, where it opened its first three stores in 2016, and is now up to 10.
Katja Erbe will report to the CEO of The Athlete's Foot, Ingmar Kraak, and will be based in new offices, as the retailer's international headquarters is gradually making a move from Bern, Switzerland, to Amsterdam, where digital operations for Intersport and The Athlete’s Foot have already set up shop. The Athlete’s Foot is strong in the Netherlands, where it operates 57 stores, and non-existent in Switzerland.
