India Trend Fair 2018 to take place in Shibuya, Tokyo from September 19 to 21

The Japan India Industry Promotion Association will host the fourth India Trade Fair 2018 from September 19 to 21 at the Belle Salle Shibuya Garden Tower in Tokyo with around 90 Indian fashion businesses.

The 2018 India Trend Fair will bring together Indian readymade garment and accessory manufacturers and Japanese suppliers to promote trade links between the two countries in the fashion industry. The event is in partnership with a number of Indian government associations including the Apparel Export Promotion Council, the Tirupur Exporters Association, the Handloom Export Promotion Council, the Indian Silk Export Promotion Council, and the Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council.

Around 90 businesses will attend the trade show from India to promote their products. The event will feature fashion and homeware in categories such as denim, finished garments, accessories, footwear, cushions, bed linens, and carpets.

The trade show is also in line with the Union government’s “Make in India” campaign which aims to increase domestic production, especially in the textile and apparel sector, as well as exports. Taxes on many textiles have been reduced and this presents lucrative business opportunities for foreign importers. The exhibition shares the aims of the Sustainable Development Goals which apply to all nations and promote development with “leave no one behind”.

JIIPA is a non-profit organisation based in Tokyo and affiliated with the Tokyo metropolitan government that works to promote trade between India and Japan. The NPO collects and analyses information on Japanese and Indian industrial markets and has an office in Tokyo.
