Emilio Pucci appoints Giorgio Presca as general manager ad interim

Yet another change at the top for Emilio Pucci. FashionNetwork.com has learned from a source close to the company that the Florentine fashion label has appointed Giorgio Presca as general manager ad interim, while looking for a replacement for Mauro Grimaldi, who left last month. Presca’s mission is to analyse the current situation and identify the future development priorities for the relaunch of the Italian label, which is seemingly struggling to find a consistent direction of travel.

After being bought by LVMH in 2000, Emilio Pucci has had no less than four creative directors, and changed general manager several times. After Christian Lacroix in 2003 and Matthew Williamson in 2005, Peter Dundas took charge of style from 2008 to 2015, adopting for the label a glam, sexy positioning that was appreciated by buyers. In 2015 he was replaced by Massimo Giorgetti, who left after only four seasons. Since April 2017, Emilio Pucci’s collections are developed in-house, and have not met with the success expected.

Former General Manager Mauro Grimaldi, who was hired in 2015 after Massimo Giorgetti took charge of style, recently left the label, now overseen by the daughter of founder Emilio Pucci, Laudomia, as vice-president and image director. Giorgio Presca was however hired by Sidney Toledano, CEO of LVMH Fashion Group, the division which looks after the group’s ‘smaller’ labels (Celine, Kenzo, Loewe, Marc Jacobs and Emilio Pucci).

Between March 2017 and September 2018, Presca was in charge of Italian casual-chic label Golden Goose Deluxe Brand (GGDB). He was previously involved in the relaunch of Italian footwear brand Geox, which he managed from 2012, and also worked for Diesel, Levi Strauss, Benetton and VF Corporation.
