Carven appoints Daphné Cousineau as general manager

Icicle has selected a veteran of French luxury to lead Carven's relaunch. Daphné Cousineau, who was enlisted by Balenciaga in 2017 as Europe president, is now set to join French label Carven, which was acquired by Chinese group Icicle in autumn 2018.

Prior to joining the Kering group, Cousineau was global sales director at Lanvin from 2014 and managing director of Valentino's French subsidiary between 2007 and 2014. Cousineau also previously worked in consulting and media for McKinsey then Vivendi between 1995 and 2003 before entering the luxury sector in 2005 when she was appointed as director of wholesale and franchise business at Celine.

With her arrival at Carven, which she announced via Linkedin, reported by WWD, she will face a new challenge: restructuring a French label with some 50 employees, in order to boost its global growth, in particular in China. The first stage of this project began back in October 2018 under the direction of Isabelle Capron, international vice president of Icicle Fashion Group.

While the brand is still searching for a creative director, it has created an autumn/ winter collection. The collection’s designs allow for a transition from summer at the brand’s four French boutiques, which are currently retailing pieces from the brand’s archives, and also allow the brand to develop its network in China. In spring, Icicle announced its plan to open around 40 stores in China over the next two years.
