The CFDA and Vogue's Covid-19 relief fund, A Common Thread, has announced its first round of grant recipients.

A Common Thread

On Thursday, the CFDA announced that $2.13 million will be distributed to 44 businesses in the fund's first round.

These funds are expected to go towards rehiring laid off or furloughed employees, making rent payments and payments to factories or manufacturers, the production of future collections, digital marketing and e-commerce updates, among others, the CFDA said. Retailers may also use the funds to help pay designers for delivered spring collections.

Grant recipients include the brands 6397; Ahlem Eyewear LLC; Anaak LLC; Anna Sheffield Fine Jewelry; Area; Arje; Banjanan; Bode New York LLC; Brother Vellies; Carol Hannah; Carolina K Inc; Collina Strada; Corridor; Crosby Collection LLC, dba Crosby by Mollie Burch; Deveaux New York; Eckhaus Latta; Gigi Burris Millinery; Gorga Fehren Fine Jewelry LLC dba Eva Fehren; Gypsy Sport; Jonathan Cohen; LaQuan Smith LLC; Lemlem; Mellisa Joy Manning Inc; Partow; Peter Do, LLC; Prabal Gurung LLC; PS38 LLC dba Public School; Rachel Comey; Rodarte; Ryan Roche; Sandy Liang; Spinelli Kilcollin; Telfar; Willy Chavarria and Yeohlee Inc.

Retailer recipients include McMullen Management II, Inc; Leigh’s of Western Michigan; Swords-Smith; Valley Tribeca; Lust Covet Desire LLC dba LCD; Departamento and Feature, while factory recipients include Panda International Trading of NY, Inc and Off the Wall Printing.

The first round of grant recipients were selected by a panel of fashion industry leaders, including Jill Standish, retail industry managing director at Accenture; Jeff Fowler, USA president at Farfetch; Wen Zhou, co-founder and CEO at 3.1 Phillip Lim; Mark Holgate, fashion news director at Vogue; and Sara Kozlowski, director of education and professional development at CFDA, among others.

To date, A Common Thread has received over 1,000 applications from members of the American fashion industry who have been impacted by the pandemic. According to the CFDA, eligible applicants who did not receive a grant in the first round will still be up for consideration in a second round of funding.

Since its launch in March, A Common Thread has raised nearly $5 million to support members of the American fashion industry who have been impacted by the pandemic.
