NYX opens its first store in the Caribbean with a new location in Puerto Rico
Nyx Cosmetics continues its growth in Latin America. Two years after its arrival in the Puerto Rican market, the makeup brand opened its first store on June 16 in the Plaza Las Americas in Puerto Rico’s capital.
Surrounded by customers and bloggers, the brand, which is owned by the L'Oréal group, opened its latest store on the first level of the Plaza Las Americas. The opening comes just two months after the launch of a Nyx counter at the Macy’s located in the same shopping center.
The brand began operations in Puerto Rico two years ago with the arrival of its products in the multibrand beauty store Preciosa. As the brand announced this past May, it plans to arrive in all of the island’s Walgreens locations by this fall.
This has been a key year for Nyx’s international expansion, as it has launched in new markets in both Latin America and Europe.
In March, the brand opened the doors of its first store in Mexico at the Antea shopping center in the city of Querétaro. Two months later, with the expectation of more than 1,000 visitors, the brand opened a flagship store in Chile in Santiago’s Costanera Center.
Earlier this year Nyx also opened its first store in Salamanca, Spain and a second store in Barcelona, in addition to launching an e-commerce platform for the Spanish market.
Nyx is an important part of L'Oréal’s portfolio. According to the French cosmetics giant, in 2016 its global sales grew 4.4 percent compared to the previous period, with the makeup sector reporting double digit growth “thanks to the exceptional performance of Nyx makeup.”
The makeup brand was founded in Los Angeles in 1999 and recently announced the opening of its 100th store worldwide with its new location in San Antonio, Texas.
